Sinderella's note
*Tarot Wisdom* is Rachel Pollack's 2008 follow-up to *Seventy-Eight Degrees* — same Pollack mind, same beautiful writing, but more *modern* and more *practical.* If you already read the deep one, this is the working manual. If you haven't, start with *Seventy-Eight Degrees.* Sinderella keeps both on the table.
The long version
Rachel Pollack's *Tarot Wisdom* (2008) is the companion volume to her earlier *Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom* (1980). Where *Seventy-Eight Degrees* is the deep symbolic read on the Major Arcana — meditative, scholarly, slow — *Tarot Wisdom* is the *practical* book: how to actually do readings, how to interpret reversals, how to choose decks, how to handle questions about death, illness, and divination ethics. Pollack wrote it after thirty years of reading professionally, and it shows — every chapter feels like a working tarot reader's notebook turned into a chapter. The book also covers the entire 78-card deck (where the earlier one focused on the Majors) and includes Pollack's own readings of contemporary decks. Read this one *after* Seventy-Eight Degrees, or alongside it. Pair with Mary K. Greer's workbook for the do-the-exercises tradition. Sinderella keeps both Pollack books on the folding table — she rotates between them depending on what the question is. Saint Catherine of Siena for the mystic. Saint Cecilia for the writers who got there.
